Julatten is a remote town in the daintree rainforest, Queensland. Located 30 minutes inland from Port Douglas the town went without a pub for 3 long years from the start of the Covid-19 pandemic until mid 2023. The pub re-opened with a new name and brand identity. We drew heavily from rainforest surrounds and Queensland culture in general. It was important for us to create a brand that would resonate with the locals and travellers alike. We did this by incorporating tried and tested tropes about FNQ without taking ourselves too seriously.
One really valuable lesson we learnt during this project was that you should always hang a horse shoe with its ends facing up so that you catch good luck.
