The name Barragunda was a word used by the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin nation, the traditional custodians of the land, said to mean ‘thunderous roar of the sea’, reflecting the property’s location at Cape Schanck. The property includes pastures for the grazing of cattle and sheep, a mixed fruit orchard, market garden and a soon to be built 40-seat restaurant that will serve farm to table meals.
The objective for this project was create a brand which encapsulates the sustainable farming and emersive dining experience. The branding draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the farm, using earthy tones and hand drawn type to create an identity that reflects Barragunda's values. The illustration by Samuel Humphreys, who actually lives on the property, depicts the scene looking east towards Bushranger’s Bay from the Cape Schanck lighthouse on the edge of the property.
